On 1st October 2013 the HSE approval of first aid training providers ended and the responsibility for ensuring the standards of workplace first aid training moved from the HSE to employers.

The new regulations now require employers to carry out their own due diligence and investigations on the first aid training provider in order to ensure that the training meets the necessary standards.(First Aid Training Companies previously HSE approved MUST comply with this)

Employers do not need to undertake any due diligence if their first aiders undertake OFQUAL (RQF) regulated first aid qualifications. This is because an Awarding Organisation regulates these courses, which means that both the training provider and the qualifications have already been verified as meeting the required standards.

Due diligence compliance employers must prove Due Diligence  (HSE definition and compliance guidance)

IF THE COMPANY DOES NOT PROVE DUE DILIGENCE THE CERTIFICATES AND TRAINING ARE NOT VALID
